The 49ers’ receiver room keeps getting hit, and that has pushed Omarion Miller into the conversation for next offseason.
In a recent first-round 2027 NFL Mock Draft, PFSN analyst Cameron Sheath sent the Arizona State wideout to San Francisco, pointing to a fit that makes plenty of sense on paper. Sheath tied the idea to the 49ers’ ongoing injury issues at the position and specifically noted how Miller could slide into a role that looks tailor-made for Kyle Shanahan’s offense.
“De’Zhaun Stribling’s early second-round draft capital didn’t stop the 49ers from bringing back Deebo Samuel Sr. after Pearsall’s latest injury setback, which is telling,” Sheath wrote. “Miller’s 6.4 yards after the catch per reception in 2025 suggests he’d be perfect for Kyle Shanahan and a seamless successor to Samuel in the slot.”
The injury list is part of why this name is starting to pop. Ricky Pearsall is out for the season with a knee injury, while Mike Evans, De’Zhaun Stribling, Christian Kirk, and Jacob Cowing have also dealt with setbacks.
The last four are not expected to miss major time, but the volume of injuries still stands out. If the unit can’t stay healthy in 2026, the 49ers will have no choice but to keep addressing the position.
Miller brings the kind of traits that make scouts lean in. At 6-foot-2 and 210 pounds, the senior has the kind of frame and athletic profile that jumps off the page.
He moves smoothly, carries real vertical juice, and gets up to speed fast. He isn’t a dazzling short-area separator, but he makes up for it with sharp, efficient route running.
His cuts stay tight, he doesn’t waste much motion, and he’s good at manipulating defenders with tempo.
There are still a couple of boxes he has to check before he becomes a sure thing. His short-area quickness needs work, and he has to clean up the focus drops.
If those issues come along, Miller should be squarely in first-round discussions next offseason. For now, he looks like a receiver with the tools to become a dangerous weapon in Shanahan’s system.
