San Francisco 49ers principal owner and CEO Jed York was arrested Sunday in Ohio during an operation tied to human trafficking, and the case quickly moved from an initial prostitution allegation to a pair of misdemeanor convictions.
The East Palestine Police Department made the arrest with help from the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force. York was first taken into custody and arraigned on suspicion of engaging in prostitution, which is a first-degree misdemeanor. He was booked into the Columbiana County Jail and later posted $5,000 bond.
More details emerged Monday morning, when the State of Ohio amended the prostitution charge to disorderly conduct. York then pleaded no contest to the amended disorderly conduct charge and also entered a no-contest plea to an additional misdemeanor charge of possessing criminal tools. He was found guilty of both offenses.
According to the Columbiana County Municipal Court, the arrest happened at 9:35 a.m. at a mobile home community off State Route 170. After the court proceedings, York was sentenced to two days in the Columbiana County Jail, with the sentences running concurrently. Because he had already received credit for one day served after his Sunday arrest, his jail time was immediately fulfilled.
York was also ordered to pay $1,150 in fines, including $150 for disorderly conduct and $1,000 for possessing criminal tools. In addition, $160 in cash seized during the arrest was ordered forfeited to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, while his cell phone was ordered returned to him.
