49ers Halloween Party Turns Viral Scandal Into A Locker Room Debate

A 49ers player reignites a scandal at the team Halloween party with a wild costume choice that mocks the infamous antics of Daejon Love.

The San Francisco 49ers’ annual Halloween party this week turned into a full-on tribute to one of the year’s wildest off-field stories.

Quarterback Brock Purdy and his wife hosted the event, and while plenty of players showed up in standard costumes with their significant others, at least two 49ers went with something far more headline-driven: Daejon Love.

One player wore a jersey, while another arrived in a jail outfit, leaning all the way into the bizarre saga that made Love such a recognizable name earlier this year. His story has already been a major talking point, and now it has officially crossed into Halloween costume territory.

Love was accused of posing as a San Francisco 49ers player in order to defraud numerous women around the country. Federal prosecutors said Love and an alleged co-conspirator solicited money from victims by pushing fake high-yield investment opportunities. Authorities said Love used online dating profiles and social media accounts filled with false personal and financial details to win victims’ trust.

Both men were arrested in late August.

Earlier this month, Love was formally indicted on a federal wire fraud conspiracy charge. Prosecutors also alleged that he staged displays of wealth to convince people to send him cash or wire money for investments, then used the money for personal expenses, including travel, expensive cars, clothing, and jewelry.

Federal authorities said the alleged scheme involved more than two dozen women and approximately $1.3 million.

If convicted, Love faces up to 20 years in federal prison and up to three years of supervised release.

49ers First Loss Made One Thing About This Roster Impossible To Ignore

The first loss of the 2026 season did not come with much room for comfort, even if the 49ers still sit in control of the NFC West at 6-1 heading into Week 9. San Franciscos undefeated start and six-game road winning streak both ended in Atlanta, and the defeat came with the sort of issues that tend to travel with a team until they get cleaned up: shaky ball security, a pass rush that could not create enough disruption, and a game plan that had to survive through several key injuries.

Christian McCaffrey was part of the injury storyline, briefly leaving with a thigh scare before returning, which only added to the feeling that this was one of those Sundays where everything got tested at once. The bye week now arrives at a useful time for the 49ers, giving them a chance to reset physically and sort through a loss that exposed just how thin the margin can be when the core pieces are not fully at ease. 49ers May Be Running Out Of Time With Eddy Pineiro

Eddy Pineiros season has become a problem the 49ers can no longer keep brushing aside. During the game against the Falcons, the veteran kicker missed his seventh kick of the year, another jolt to a phase of the game that San Francisco expected to be stable when it brought him in.

The 49ers have enough moving parts elsewhere without having to wonder about every field goal and extra point, and the possibility of a change is starting to feel more realistic by the week. If they do decide to move on, the free-agent market offers a few familiar names to monitor, with Graham Gano, Matt Prater and Riley Patterson among the kickers who could come into the conversation. Mac Jones Keeps Giving 49ers Fans A Reason To Watch This Story

Mac Jones gave 49ers fans another reason to pay attention this week, even if it had nothing to do with a pass rush or a playbook. During an appearance on The Kittle Things podcast, the quarterback opened up about his dating preferences, saying he is attracted to smart women and adding a humorous line about seafood restaurants that fit the lighter tone of the interview. It was a reminder that Jones can still command a spotlight in San Francisco, where every conversation around the backup quarterback seems to carry a little extra weight.

John Lynch only added to the intrigue when he addressed the trade chatter around Jones, pointing to the teams strong quarterback room and the value of having depth in place. Jones started eight games for the 49ers last season and threw for 2,151 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions, enough production to keep his name in the mix whenever other teams come calling. For now, the 49ers appear content to hold the position steady, even if the phone keeps ringing. [Read more 🡒]
