The San Francisco 49ers may have a future front-office star on their hands.
At a public event, a young fan got the chance to meet Las Vegas Raiders pass-rusher Maxx Crosby, and she wasted no time making her pitch. She wasn’t there just to be star-struck. She went straight into recruiting mode, pushing Crosby toward her favorite team.
That team, of course, was the 49ers.
“I literally made a post about you, like a couple of weeks ago,” the young girl told Crosby. “So, I've got to ask for The Faithful, will you please join the 49ers?”
Crosby, clearly amused by the moment, answered the only way he really could.
“I can't. I can't,” Crosby replied.
“Hey, I still appreciate you doing your homework, though. You never know.
You're the best, though.”
There’s been plenty of chatter already about Crosby and San Francisco. He’s been floated as a trade candidate in offseason talk as the 49ers look to keep pace with the Los Angeles Rams’ blockbuster move for edge rusher Myles Garrett.
The Raiders also reportedly tried to move Crosby to the Baltimore Ravens earlier this offseason, but that deal fell apart after a failed physical. That only adds more fuel to the idea that Crosby could be on the move eventually.
If it happens later this fall, maybe ahead of the NFL trade deadline, it would make sense if Las Vegas is buried in the standings and shifting its attention to a rebuild while San Francisco looks for another pass-rusher to keep its Super Bowl window open.
And if Crosby does end up in red and gold, there will be one young fan who can claim she started the campaign early.
She should be a GM.
