The 49ers walked through 2025 with plenty of scars and still found their way to 12 wins and the playoffs. That alone says a lot about Kyle Shanahan’s group, especially with Brock Purdy missing a big chunk of the regular season because of turf toe and Mac Jones stepping in to keep the offense humming.
Now the market is treating San Francisco like a team right in the middle of the win-total range. DraftKings has the 49ers heavily favored to clear nine wins, but also heavily favored to stay under 11, which points pretty cleanly to a 10-win expectation.
That makes sense when you look at the shape of this roster and the way 2025 played out. Health is still the biggest question hanging over a veteran team that took hit after hit last season. The 49ers have already lost Ricky Pearsall for the year, and they brought back Deebo Samuel to help patch up the receiver room.
There’s also some good news on the defensive side. Fred Warner should be ready for Week 1, while Nick Bosa and George Kittle are both working back from season-ending injuries in 2025. Even with all of those issues, San Francisco still finished 12-5, and Mac Jones proved he can keep the team winning if Purdy has to miss time again.
Shanahan’s offense remains the kind of thing that can carry a team through rough stretches, and the schedule gives the 49ers a path to another strong year. They get a third-place schedule in 2026, and while they do have four games against either the Los Angeles Rams or Seattle Seahawks, there are only three other matchups against 2025 playoff teams: Denver, Philadelphia and the Los Angeles Chargers.
The NFC West should be a grind again. Oddsmakers expect Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles to all win 10 or more games for the second straight season, which tells you how tight this division looks heading into 2026.
Still, the 49ers have enough going for them to make another playoff push. The talent is there on both sides of the ball, the schedule has some soft spots, and there are six games they’ll likely be sizable favorites in, including multiple road games. That’s why the 10-win line feels reachable, even if the injuries are never far from the conversation with this team.
