San Antonio Spurs vs. Sacramento Kings: Wembanyama Shines in Eighth Straight Win

In a thrilling matchup in Austin, Texas, Victor Wembanyama delivered a standout performance, scoring 28 points and grabbing 15 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 139-122 victory over the Sacramento Kings. This win marks the Spurs' eighth consecutive triumph and completes a sweep of their Austin series.

The Kings, struggling with injuries, faced their 16th straight loss, setting a franchise record. With key players Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine sidelined for the season, Sacramento leaned heavily on their remaining roster.

De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle, and Keldon Johnson each contributed 18 points for the Spurs. Wembanyama was in fine form, adding six assists and four blocks to his impressive stat line.

On the Kings' side, Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan led with 20 points each. Malik Monk chipped in with 19 points, while rookie Maxime Raynaud, a Stanford alum and Wembanyama's friend from France, made his mark with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

The Spurs, playing in a region they've been nurturing for years, started strong with an 11-0 run, highlighted by Wembanyama's three blocks in the opening 90 seconds. Despite being undermanned, the Kings fought back, narrowing the gap to just one point late in the third quarter.

Raynaud's hustle was evident with seven offensive rebounds, often creating second-chance opportunities for his teammates. However, the Kings couldn't contain Wembanyama, who hit a crucial three-pointer and assisted Harrison Barnes for another, pushing the Spurs to a 105-94 lead by the end of the third.

The fourth quarter saw Fox and Wembanyama exchange baskets, sparking a 12-0 run that extended San Antonio's lead to 28 points, sealing the game.
