Jayden Nunn is getting another crack at the NBA side of the Spurs organization after earning a training camp roster spot with San Antonio following a strong rookie run in the G League.
The Austin Spurs guard spent seven games with the Summer Spurs in July, taking part in both the California Classic in San Francisco and NBA Summer League 2026 in Las Vegas. Over those appearances, he put up 3.9 points, two rebounds and just under one assist in 14.8 minutes per game.
The deal is expected to be an Exhibit 10 contract, which would give Nunn a path to a bonus worth up to $91,000 if San Antonio waives him and he stays with Austin for at least 60 days afterward. It could also set him up for a possible move to a two-way contract.
Nunn’s rise with Austin started last year after he went undrafted in 2025 following two seasons at Baylor and then made the Spurs’ G League roster through an open tryout. Once he got in the rotation under former Austin coach Jacob Chance, he became a steady contributor, averaging 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists across 47 games.
The Michigan native brought value as a scorer who could both shoot and attack off the dribble, and he gave Austin a lift when David Jones Garcia went down with a season-ending lower-body injury late in the year.
“(Nunn’s) shown that he can play in those big games ... big moments,” Chance said in January.
San Antonio now has 19 players under contract heading into training camp later this month, with two roster spots still available for training camp deals or non-guaranteed contracts through Oct. 19, the day before the regular season begins.
For Nunn, the likeliest path still points back to Austin. If that happens, he would be in line for the G League season opener against the Houston Rockets' affiliate Rio Grande Vipers in early November.
He’ll also have a new set of eyes watching in Austin. Chris Kent, the new head coach, will get a look at Nunn during training camp, where he’ll be competing for minutes with one of San Antonio’s second-round picks, two-way guard Ja’Kobi Gillespie, and former Stockton Kings guard Jon Elmore, whose rights Austin acquired in August.
The defending Western Conference champions are set to open training camp at Victory Capital Performance Center later this month, giving Nunn a chance to make his case over the next few weeks and keep pushing toward an NBA future.
