San Antonio Spurs forward Harrison Ingram is quietly making waves this season, honing his skills behind the scenes and drawing satisfaction from the organization. The 2024 second-round pick has been a standout in the G League, earning the title of Player of the Week after a stellar run with the Austin Spurs. Over his last five games, Ingram averaged an impressive 22.2 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 7.4 assists, notching four double-doubles and a triple-double, leading Austin to a 4-1 record.
Spurs head coach Mitch Johnson is thrilled with Ingram's progress, noting, "Player of the Week is definitely trending in the right direction. It’s rewarding for him and for us as an organization. Watching a young player grind in the G League, often out of the spotlight, and see them improve incrementally is what it's all about."
Ingram, the 48th pick in the 2024 draft from North Carolina, has primarily played in the G League, appearing in just five NBA games this season. The 6-foot-5 forward's development with Austin has been promising, averaging 16.1 points, 12.7 rebounds, and 4.8 assists on 48.2 percent shooting across 21 appearances.
Johnson praised Ingram's acceptance of his role, highlighting his defensive contributions and ability to create extra possessions through offensive rebounds and transition play. "He’s embraced his role as a defender and physical player. His energy is focused in the right areas, leading to monster production."
The Spurs signed Ingram to a one-year, two-way contract before the season, and his growth is a testament to his dedication and the Spurs' developmental approach.
