Dan Dakich went after the Kings’ viral media day clip with both barrels, using Tuesday to blast the female reporters heard commenting on Ben Simmons and Zach LaVine and to call for them to own what they said.
The exchange that set him off came from Sacramento’s media day on Monday, when LaVine and Simmons were both making appearances. A clip from the press conference has since spread across the internet, and in it, two female reporters can be heard giving their blunt takes on the two players.
One reporter praised LaVine’s looks while taking a shot at his personality.
"Hella fine… his personality annoys the s**t outta me," a reporter said about LaVine.
The other offered a similar mix of criticism and admiration for Simmons.
"Ben Simmons… cringe… he’s lucky he’s so fine," another reporter said.
Dakich reposted the New York Post’s coverage of the moment and unloaded in the comments, framing the reaction as hypocritical.
"Hahahaha… normal human reactions caught on tape, BUT..it’s all the (expletive) victimhood whining that women in sports media do daily," he wrote." All that whining about 'Sydney Sweeney' that makes this really, really funny!!!
We knew, we all knew!!! Now own it, ladies, be accountable just like you whine and demand of men."
He doubled down on Outkick’s "Don't @ Me" later Tuesday, saying the reaction would look very different if men were the ones caught on tape.
"Can you imagine if dudes did this? Women would go nuts," he said.
"Women are full of s***. They b**** whine and moan, but look, it's a natural human response."
"Of course, they are caught thirsting over Zach LaVine, thirsting 'he's so hot' over Ben Simmons. We know, you guys whine b**** and moan daily."
He also brought Sydney Sweeney back into the discussion, saying the women had criticized the actress for denigrating women while doing something similar themselves.
The clip has stirred plenty of outrage online and sparked debate over the reporters’ behavior. Sacramento has not commented on the situation, and the reporters in the video have not been identified.
