Bucks Linked to Kings Star Zach LaVine Amid Major Shakeup

As Sacramento signals a rebuild, Milwaukee is reportedly eyeing a high-scoring guard who may soon be on the move again.

The Sacramento Kings appear to be heading into a full-scale rebuild - and that could mean some big names are on the move. One of the most notable? Zach LaVine.

LaVine, now in his first full season with the Kings after arriving from Chicago at last season’s trade deadline, might not be sticking around much longer. According to multiple reports, the Milwaukee Bucks have recently revisited their interest in the 30-year-old guard. They’ve reportedly done their due diligence on LaVine, continuing a line of inquiry that dates back at least to November.

Right now, LaVine is sidelined with a thumb injury - he missed Sacramento’s recent loss to the Denver Nuggets - but that hasn’t cooled the chatter around his future. And it’s not hard to see why teams like Milwaukee are intrigued.

In 22 games this season, LaVine is putting up 20.6 points per game while shooting a sharp 48.6% from the field and 38.9% from deep. He’s also chipping in 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists per contest.

That kind of offensive efficiency, especially from beyond the arc, is a valuable commodity in today’s NBA. LaVine’s ability to create his own shot and stretch the floor makes him a natural fit for a team like the Bucks, who are always on the lookout for perimeter scoring to complement their inside-out attack built around Giannis Antetokounmpo.

But here’s the catch - and it’s a big one. LaVine’s contract is a heavy lift.

He carries a $47.5 million cap hit this season, with a player option just shy of $49 million for 2026-27. That kind of money doesn’t move easily, especially for a player currently dealing with an injury.

Any team seriously eyeing LaVine would likely need to attach significant draft capital or other assets to make the numbers work.

So while the Bucks are clearly interested, and LaVine’s skill set would be a welcome addition in Milwaukee, this isn’t a simple plug-and-play trade scenario. It’s a high-stakes puzzle - and one that could reshape both the Kings’ rebuild and the Bucks’ title push if the pieces fall into place.
