Rutgers long snapper O’Connor has been named a nominee for the 2026 Allstate American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, the organization announced Monday.
The honor is reserved for college football players who make an impact through community service, academics and athletics, and O’Connor’s résumé fits the bill. He is a graduate student in the Rutgers Business School’s supply chain management program after completing his undergraduate degree in leadership and management. Academically, he has been a four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, and he also helped give Rutgers the nation-leading National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society contingent.
On the field, O’Connor is heading into his sixth season in the program and handled the primary long snapping duties in all 12 games last year. Rutgers finished second in the Big Ten with a net punting average of 41.85 yards, and O’Connor was part of 13 successful field goals.
Away from game days, the Middletown, New Jersey, native has been a steady presence in Chop4Change, Rutgers football’s community outreach effort. His involvement has included Special Olympics New Jersey, Move the Spectrum, the winter coat drive and other events.
