Rutgers Gets Big Griffin Boost, Angoy Awaits Decision

As Rutgers bolsters its defensive line, Keshon Griffin is set to return, while Zaire Angoy eagerly awaits an NCAA eligibility decision.

Spring practice is underway for Rutgers football, bringing with it some encouraging developments, especially for the defensive tackle position. Keshon Griffin is set to return for another season, while Zaire Angoy is still awaiting word from the NCAA about his eligibility.

Both Griffin and Angoy sought an additional year from the NCAA, and Griffin's request was granted early on. Despite the uncertainty, both players stayed committed to the team, with Angoy joining Griffin on the field for the start of spring practice.

Head coach Greg Schiano commented, "Keshon has been cleared, so he is a go, and we are still waiting on Zaire. But it's legal for him to practice.

He's participated in the entire winter program. I am hopeful that will happen soon."

Griffin has truly come into his own later in his Rutgers career. After limited action in his first three seasons, he has started 11 games over the past two years, becoming a key part of the defensive tackle rotation.

Angoy, on the other hand, brings even more experience to the table with 11 starts and 37 game appearances as a Scarlet Knight.

The potential return of both players is a significant boost to the Rutgers defensive line. Also returning is transfer Doug Blue-Eli, who was sidelined last summer due to injury but came in with high expectations from USF.

Additionally, the coaching staff made a strategic move by securing Rondo Porter from the transfer portal, a targeted acquisition. With returning redshirt sophomore Farrell Gnango and redshirt freshman Braxton Kyle, the depth and potential of the RU defensive line look promising for the upcoming season.
