In a heartbreaking turn of events, NFL wide receiver and former Purdue standout Rondale Moore has passed away at the age of 25. The Floyd County Coroner confirmed the news, and local reports indicate that Moore was found in his garage, with authorities suspecting a self-inflicted gunshot as the cause.
Moore made a name for himself in 2018 with a sensational freshman year at Purdue. His lightning speed and playmaking ability were on full display as he racked up 114 receptions for 1,258 yards and 12 touchdowns.
He also added 213 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. One of his most unforgettable performances came against Ohio State, where he torched the Buckeyes with 12 catches for 170 yards and two touchdowns, leading Purdue to a stunning 49-20 victory.
Despite battling injuries in the following seasons, Moore's talent was undeniable, and he entered the NFL as a second-round pick for the Arizona Cardinals in the 2021 Draft. Known for his ability to gain yards after the catch, the 5-foot-7 dynamo spent three seasons with the Cardinals before being traded to the Falcons.
In 2025, Moore joined the Minnesota Vikings, but a knee injury during training camp sidelined him for the season. He was set to enter free agency in March, leaving fans and teammates to wonder what could have been.
Throughout his NFL career, Moore recorded 1,201 yards on 135 receptions, scoring four total touchdowns. An autopsy is planned as the sports community mourns the loss of a young talent gone too soon.
