I'm saddened to share some difficult news this Saturday evening. Former Purdue standout and NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore has passed away at the age of 25.
Reports confirm that Moore was found in New Albany, Indiana, with authorities suspecting a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The local police chief, Todd Bailey, and the Floyd County Coroner have both confirmed the tragic news.
Jeff Brohm, Moore's coach during his Purdue days, expressed his sorrow on social media, highlighting Moore's incredible work ethic and competitive spirit. Brohm described him as a joy to coach, someone who never backed down from a challenge and was loved by all who knew him.
Moore's time at Purdue was marked by remarkable achievements. In his freshman year, he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, B1G Receiver of the Year, and earned consensus All-American honors. His debut season also saw him win the prestigious Paul Hornung Award.
Despite injuries limiting his play in the following two seasons, Moore declared for the NFL Draft and was picked 49th overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. He later played for the Atlanta Falcons and signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025, though an injury kept him on injured reserve for the season.
Throughout his NFL career, Moore recorded 135 receptions for 1,201 yards and three touchdowns. His impact on and off the field will be remembered by many. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.
