Kenna Wollard was back with Purdue on Wednesday night, and Mackey Arena made sure she felt it.
The senior outside hitter, who had stepped away from the team earlier this month because of an undisclosed medical issue, was introduced as an honorary starter before the first serve of Purdue’s match against Georgia. Even though she was not in uniform, the reaction told the story: fans and teammates were glad to see her on the bench again for the first time since her announcement.
Wollard then stayed courtside to support the Boilermakers on the second night of the Big Ten-SEC Challenge.

Earlier this month, Wollard explained her absence in a post on Instagram.
"Sometimes life changes in ways you could never imagine or prepare for," Wollard wrote on Instagram earlier this month. "I'm currently dealing with an unexpected health issue that will keep me away fro a little while.
While I'm not ready to share the details at this time, I hope you understand and respect my privacy until I am ready to share more. But know that I am surrounded by an incredible medical team, family, teammates and people who love me.
"Right now, my focus is simply on getting healthy and taking this one day at a time. I trust that this is all in God's hands.

Wollard entered the season with plenty of attention after being named a preseason National Player of the Year candidate following a standout junior year. She appeared in Purdue’s opening preseason match against Ball State, then missed the second exhibition against Butler.
For now, there’s no timetable for her return. Purdue came into Tuesday night at 1-1 after a five-set loss to No.
10 Creighton last Friday and a win over No. 12 Texas A&M at Mackey Arena on Tuesday.
