Trail Blazers Surge As Easy Stretch Sets Up Something Big

With playoff aspirations in sight, the Trail Blazers are harnessing momentum and embracing a winning mindset, as evidenced by their decisive victory over the Bucks.

The Portland Trail Blazers are making their playoff intentions clear with a decisive 130-99 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. With the NBA’s easiest schedule ahead, the Blazers are laser-focused on securing a favorable play-in position. This win keeps them neck-and-neck with the Los Angeles Clippers in the Western Conference standings.

Portland showcased impressive ball movement and shooting, controlling the game from the outset. Despite a brief third-quarter lull, the Blazers maintained their dominance, capitalizing on an undermanned Milwaukee squad. Scoot Henderson led the charge with 23 points off the bench, while Deni Avdija and Jerami Grant each contributed 18 points.

Donovan Clingan was a force on the boards, racking up 14 points, 15 rebounds, and two blocks, helping Portland win the rebounding battle 54-34. The Bucks, missing Giannis Antetokounmpo due to an ongoing injury dispute, relied on Ryan Rollins, who posted a career-high 36 points.

The Blazers started strong, jumping to a 10-0 lead and tying their season-high with eight first-quarter threes. Grant, back from injury, set the tone with 10 points in the opening frame. Portland’s offensive onslaught continued in the second quarter, pushing the lead to 71-49 by halftime, with Jrue Holiday facilitating with eight assists.

Milwaukee’s defense struggled to contain Portland as Clingan delivered a highlight-reel dunk and Toumani Camara hit a crucial corner three. Although the Bucks briefly cut the deficit with a 10-0 run, the Blazers quickly regained control, leading 104-81 by the end of the third quarter.

In the final period, Caleb Love made an appearance under his two-way contract, helping Portland cruise to victory despite Rollins’ persistent scoring for Milwaukee.

With eight games left, the Blazers are mostly healthy and focused on building a playoff mentality. Acting head coach Tiago Splitter emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum, dismissing past excuses related to injuries and restrictions.

“We’ve got to take care of business, do our job, win all these games at home, and then go take on the Clippers,” Splitter stated. “This is our playoff already. And that’s the mentality.”

Portland is determined to finish strong, and if they continue this level of play, they’ll be a formidable opponent come playoff time.
