Oregon’s offense looked stuck in the mud against Nebraska, but the betting market is still buying the Ducks.
After escaping with a 17-14 win late Saturday night at Autzen Stadium, Oregon’s national championship odds moved in the right direction. The Ducks are now +5000 to win it all at BetMGM, a notable jump from where they had sunk entering last weekend.
That rise came despite a rough night on offense. Oregon managed only 242 total yards against the Cornhuskers and had just 91 yards before quarterback Dylan Raiola entered in the fourth quarter and gave the Ducks the lift they needed.
Raiola’s late rescue may have kept Oregon’s College Football Playoff hopes alive. But the bigger force behind the market shift could be the possibility of starting quarterback Dante Moore returning to the lineup.
The Ducks opened the season at +700, then slid to +2200 after upsetting USC. Their odds kept dropping from there, reaching as low as +6600 before the Nebraska game. Now BetMGM has them tied for the 10th-shortest title odds, alongside Texas Tech and Tennessee at +5000.
DraftKings also moved Oregon from +7000 to +5000, while FanDuel shifted the Ducks from +8000 to +6500.
Here’s the top of the board at BetMGM:
Notre Dame +400
Ohio State +500
Georgia +500
Miami +600
Indiana +1000
Alabama +1300
Texas +1300
Ole Miss +1700
LSU +2000
Oregon +5000
Texas Tech +5000
Tennessee +5000
BYU +5000
Even with the boost, Oregon is still a long way from where it began the year. But oddsmakers are keeping Dan Lanning’s team in the mix, largely because a healthy Moore changes the picture.
Moore has practiced with the team, though his status is still uncertain as Oregon heads on the road to face Illinois at Gies Memorial Stadium in Champaign. He hasn’t put together a flawless season, but his numbers have been strong: 926 passing yards, nine touchdowns and zero interceptions.
That kind of production has been missing at times from the combination of Raiola and third-string quarterback Brock Thomas. And if Moore had been available against UCLA and managed to avoid any play-tipping issues against Oklahoma State, Oregon could be sitting at 6-0 instead of 4-2. That would have put the Ducks much closer to their preseason +700 mark at BetMGM.
For now, the odds bump doesn’t change the bigger truth: Oregon has little room left for error. One more loss would effectively wipe out its College Football Playoff hopes.
The path ahead is still manageable, though. The Ducks finish this month against Illinois, then return home for No.
24 Northwestern. After that comes No.
3 Ohio State, and the Buckeyes will be without star quarterback Julian Sayin for several weeks after he suffered an arm injury against No. 6 Indiana.
From there, Oregon’s schedule softens. Michigan on Nov.
14, Michigan State on Nov. 20 and Washington on Nov. 28 have combined for a 2-9 conference record. In fact, the Ducks’ remaining opponents are 7-12 in league play.
If Oregon had lost to Nebraska, the conversation around shutting down Moore for the season ahead of the 2027 NFL draft might have gotten louder. Instead, with the playoff door still cracked open, Moore’s availability is going to stay front and center.

Ja Morants Blazers Debut Just Raised A Bigger Backcourt Question
Ja Morants first run in a Trail Blazers uniform offered an immediate glimpse of what Portland hoped to add when it pulled off the trade with Memphis for Kris Murray and Jerami Grant. Morant got to work right away, scoring six points in his first eight minutes and showing the kind of three-point touch that can change the look of an offense in a hurry. Damian Lillard was sharp too, finishing with 12 points in 12 minutes as Portland jumped out to an early lead.
The early return was encouraging, but it also underlined why the Blazers backcourt now comes with so much intrigue. Morant and Lillard each made a clear imprint in short bursts, and Portlands ability to keep both dynamic guards involved will be one of the more interesting things to watch as the season unfolds. The fit looks promising on paper, but the bigger question is how the Blazers balance two players who both want the ball and can tilt a game in an instant. [Read more 🡒]
Bookers Rough Suns Opener Already Has Fans Fired Up
The Portland Trail Blazers opened the 2026-27 season with a fast start against Phoenix, and the tone of the game turned chippy almost as quickly as the scoreboard did. Portland jumped out to a sizable first-quarter lead behind its new backcourt pairing of Ja Morant and Damian Lillard, giving fans an early look at the kind of pace and pressure this roster can bring when it is clicking.
Devin Booker spent much of the night trying to steady the Suns, but the opener also featured a series of heated exchanges with Morant that escalated into double technical fouls for both guards. For a Portland team trying to announce itself as a more serious force in the West, the bigger picture is whether this new group can turn that opening burst into something sustainable once the emotion of opening night fades. Blazers Just Sent A Loud Opening Night Message To The NBA
The season opener in Phoenix quickly turned into a showcase for Portland, which ran out to a 21-0 burst and never let the Suns find their footing. The Blazers walked away with a 124-83 win, a lopsided result built on pace, physicality and a clear edge on the glass, where they outworked Phoenix 56-39.
Damian Lillard set the tone for Portland with 25 points, while Devin Booker finished with 23 in an evening where the Suns struggled to establish much rhythm on either end. For a team trying to set an early standard, it was about as strong a first impression as Portland could have made, and the bigger question now is whether this kind of start can carry over once the schedule settles in.
