Terry Bradshaw didn’t bother hiding where his heart was on the first full NFL Sunday of 2026.
When FOX NFL Sunday asked which new head coach he was most eager to watch, the Hall of Fame quarterback came right out with it: “I’m biased,” Bradshaw said on FOX NFL Sunday. Then he picked Mike McCarthy.
That answer made perfect sense if you know Bradshaw’s lane. Pittsburgh just turned the page from Mike Tomlin and hired McCarthy, the former Packers and Cowboys coach, and now McCarthy is back alongside Aaron Rodgers, the quarterback he won a Super Bowl with in Green Bay. For Bradshaw, that reunion is the storyline worth following.
Curt Menefee hosted the noon ET pregame show with Howie Long, Michael Strahan, Rob Gronkowski and Jay Glazer on the panel as the group looked across a league full of new head coaches, including John Harbaugh in New York and Todd Monken in Cleveland. Bradshaw still landed on the Steelers.
He said Pittsburgh needed the change, and he believes McCarthy and Rodgers already know how to make it work together. That pairing, more than any other coaching debut on the board, is what he wants to see play out all season.
Bradshaw, now 78, has been on the desk for more than 30 years, and the Steelers connection still comes through loud and clear. Jimmy Johnson stepped away last year, and Bradshaw has said before that retirement was never really for him - sitting still, in his view, would age him. Sunday was another reminder that the job still includes being the Steelers guy on national TV.
The comment wasn’t a slip. It was the point.
Ask him about the most exciting new coach, and he isn’t going to pretend Kevin Stefanski in Atlanta is the first name that comes to mind. He’s going to go with the man in black and gold.
That kind of honesty is why the moment traveled. Other analysts might soften the hometown pull.
Bradshaw put it right out front, and FOX has leaned on that for years. He’s still doing the show after more than three decades, and he’s stayed in the spotlight through health scares, a major weight loss and even a public shot at the network over Tom Brady’s $375 million deal.
McCarthy’s first year in Pittsburgh will show how far that faith goes. If the Steelers stumble, Bradshaw has never been shy about ripping them.
But on opening Sunday, he didn’t play it down the middle. He saw the new coach in his old city and told viewers exactly why that was the one he wanted to watch.
