The Marvin Harrison Jr. trade rumors hit the NFL like a bombshell this weekend, and in Pittsburgh, the obvious question followed fast: could the Steelers be the team landing him?
Reports quickly spread that the Arizona Cardinals were finalizing a deal to move Harrison, and the team made him inactive for its Week 5 game against Detroit while the details were worked out. Nothing was expected to be announced until both teams had played.
The Steelers were not viewed as the likeliest destination when this first broke. Even so, the idea isn’t empty speculation. With Michael Pittman Jr. on Injured Reserve, Pittsburgh now has a little more flexibility, and the trade that brought in an extra 2028 second-round pick for Joey Porter Jr. gives the team more room to maneuver if it wants to get involved.
Still, if the Steelers are part of these discussions, don’t expect them to get dragged into a bidding war. They are not the type to simply chase the highest number on the table, and they are unlikely to overpay just to win a deal for Harrison.
From a football standpoint, though, it’s easy to see why Pittsburgh would at least look into it. Pittman Jr. is set to miss a minimum of four weeks, and while the team drafted Germie Bernard in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Aaron Rodgers has not shown much trust in younger receivers. Bernard may have to wait for his moment.
Roman Wilson and DK Metcalf are holding up fine, but neither has separated himself as a true star. What Pittsburgh could use is another real option, and Harrison Jr. fits that description as well as anyone available.
There’s also still the age and upside factor. Harrison, the former fourth-overall pick, hasn’t hit the level many expected this early in his career, but he is only 24 and is still seen as one of the highest-upside players in the league.
A move like this would also give the Steelers a young receiver who still has two years left on his rookie deal and the possibility of a fifth-year option in 2028. In theory, he could grow alongside Drew Allar or Will Howard, or whichever young quarterback the Steelers eventually bring in for 2027. Add Harrison to Bernard and Wilson, and the team could be looking at the early shape of a very different offense.
For now, though, the biggest question remains unanswered. Are the Steelers serious about making a run at Harrison Jr.?
Are they in on the deal at all? That part is still coming.
And until the trade is revealed, Pittsburgh fans are left doing what everyone else is doing: waiting to see where Marvin Harrison Jr. lands, and wondering whether the Steelers might still shock everybody.

Steelers Need A Response As Colts Bring Real Momentum
The Steelers get back to Acrisure Stadium on Sunday afternoon with a chance to steady themselves after a frustrating trip to Cleveland. Pittsburgh had its chances in a 27-24 loss to the Browns, but a second-half opportunity slipped away as the offense never fully cashed in on Clevelands miscues, and the result left both the locker room and the standings looking a lot tighter than the Steelers would have liked.
Indianapolis arrives with a little more bounce, riding a two-game winning streak into a matchup of 2-2 teams that already feels important in the AFC race. The game kicks at 1 p.m. ET, and with both sides listing their inactives and the usual broadcast details available, this one has the feel of a midseason measuring stick for a Pittsburgh team that needs a cleaner answer than it found last week. Jaylen Warren Just Gave Steelers Fans A New Reason To Believe
The Steelers left Indianapolis with a 3-2 record, and Jaylen Warren made sure the trip came with a performance that stood out well beyond the box score. The running back topped 100 rushing yards and piled up 188 all-purpose yards, giving Pittsburgh a much-needed spark in a game it controlled enough to keep building momentum.
Warrens afternoon had the kind of burst that can reshape how a team views its backfield, blending explosive plays on the ground and through the air into one of the most memorable outings of his career. For a Steelers offense still looking for consistent answers, his showing offered a reminder that the biggest difference-makers do not always come from the most obvious places. [Read more 🡒]
Steelers Skill Position Outlook Just Changed Before Colts Game
The Steelers Week 5 matchup with the Colts got a little clearer on the injury front before kickoff, with Indianapolis set to be short at two skill spots. Pittsburgh will face a Colts offense without running back Rico Dowdle and wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., while both teams also trimmed their gameday options with a full list of inactives for the afternoon in Indianapolis.
For the Steelers, the personnel news matters because it changes how the Colts can piece together their offense around the edges, even if the game plan still has to account for the rest of the available talent on the field. Dowdles status has been tied to his toe issue, and Pittmans absence leaves another notable hole in the pass-catching group as Pittsburgh prepares for a road test that kicked off at 1 p.m. at Lucas Oil Stadium.
