Team insider Ray Fittipaldo shared his insights on 93.7 The Fan, highlighting the standout moves Pittsburgh has made. He singled out the acquisition of Michael Pittman Jr. as particularly impactful.
“For me, it’s gotta be Pittman,” Fittipaldo emphasized. The Steelers have struggled with their receiving corps in recent years, failing to draft wide receivers with the success they once did.
Pittman, while perhaps not as explosive as during his rookie contract, brings reliability and skill to the table. He's known for making contested catches and being a dependable possession receiver.
Fittipaldo also pointed out that Pittman’s contract is likely to be a smart investment, especially as player salaries continue to climb across the league.
After trading George Pickens last offseason, the Steelers were in dire need of a solid WR2. Pittman, with two 1,000-yard seasons to his name, fits perfectly alongside D.K. Metcalf, enhancing Pittsburgh’s offensive arsenal and providing a much-needed boost to their receiving lineup.
The question of who will be delivering the passes to Pittman next season remains, but given his success with various quarterbacks in Indianapolis, he’s expected to adapt seamlessly to his new environment.
