That leaves Bernard in a different spot than many expected, but not a lost one. He still has the traits to become a useful second receiver down the line. It just might take until 2027 before he gets the kind of opportunity that matches the hype.
For now, Pittsburgh seems ready to ride with Wilson early and often once the regular season begins. Bernard may have been brought in to compete right away, but it looks like he’ll be waiting his turn in this offense.
