The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in a quarterback conundrum, a situation that may linger for a while. With the team seemingly in a holding pattern as they await Aaron Rodgers' decision on his future, Mike McCarthy's offense is left without a clear leader.
This uncertainty is far from ideal.
Will Howard and Mason Rudolph are potential starters if Rodgers doesn't join the fold, but the quarterback position remains unsettled, a recurring theme for the Steelers in recent years.
Enter ESPN's Bill Barnwell, who suggests a solution that might ruffle some feathers among Steelers fans.
"Aaron Rodgers," Barnwell proposes. The Steelers have previously let opportunities with quarterbacks like Kyler Murray, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Fields, and Geno Smith slip by, even though acquiring them would have been financially feasible due to their previous teams covering much of their contracts.
So, is Rodgers the answer for Pittsburgh?
There are compelling arguments on both sides.
On one hand, Rodgers might provide the best chance for immediate success, but the long-term prospects are limited.
On the other hand, Rodgers may not be the solution if the goal is a Super Bowl run. Given his age, opting for the younger Howard could be a wiser move for the future.
Other intriguing options like Kirk Cousins or Jimmy Garoppolo could potentially offer more than Rodgers, but the Steelers' direction remains unclear.
With the draft looming, this ambiguity isn't the ideal scenario for Pittsburgh.
