The Pittsburgh Steelers still have time before training camp gets rolling, and that leaves the door open for one more move to help veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
One name now linked to Pittsburgh is Deebo Samuel. Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report listed the Steelers as a logical landing spot for the playmaker in free agency, pointing to Samuel’s ability to give the offense another jolt.
Samuel spent the 2025 season with the Washington Commanders after the first six years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers. He’s not the same explosive player he was at his peak, but Knox argued he still has plenty left to offer.
"Samuel logged 802 scrimmage yards while averaging nine yards per touch this past season with the Washington Commanders. He did it while playing much of the season without standout quarterback Jayden Daniels in a Commanders offense that ranked just 24th in passing and 22nd overall," Knox wrote.
"Though he's never been a true No. 1 receiver, Samuel has been consistently productive when healthy. Even at 30, he can still be a quality contributor as a receiver and change-of-pace backfield option. ... Samuel would make the most sense for a potential playoff contender that needs receiver depth and is looking to lead with its ground game."
Pittsburgh already made a notable move to strengthen its passing game this offseason by trading for Michael Pittman Jr. from the Indianapolis Colts. Still, the Steelers could always use more help on offense, especially with a roster built to chase a deep postseason run.
That’s why Samuel makes sense as a name to watch if Pittsburgh decides it wants another weapon in the mix.
