The Pittsburgh Steelers have had quite an eventful offseason. With Mike Tomlin stepping down after nearly two decades, the team brought in Mike McCarthy to take over the reins. But the big question looming over Pittsburgh is who will be their starting quarterback next season, especially with Aaron Rodgers contemplating retirement.
NFL insider Brooke Pryor recently shared insights on Rodgers' current mindset. Although Rodgers hasn't made a definitive decision, discussions between him and the Steelers remain positive. He's well aware of how the roster is shaping up, which could influence his choice.
Newly acquired wide receiver Michael Pittman weighed in, saying, "I know he's still thinking about it. But we've got two solid quarterbacks in Mason Rudolph and Will Howard. Whatever happens, we’ll have a solid offensive plan and make the most of it."
The Steelers seem prepared with a backup plan if Rodgers decides to hang up his cleats. Rudolph and Howard are in the mix, though it’s uncertain if either is seen as a long-term solution. Pryor pointed out that the team's recent moves could benefit Will Howard, especially given his success at Ohio State, where he thrived with strong defensive support and a powerful running game.
Fans have speculated that Rodgers might not want his last NFL memory to be that tough playoff loss to the Houston Texans. However, as of now, he hasn't announced any decisions regarding his future.
