A major Ligue 1 matchup in Paris has been pushed back one day because of unrest in the city, with Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon now set to meet on Monday, October 26, at 8:30 p.m. local time.
The clubs were originally due to play at the Parc des Princes on Sunday, but the Paris Police Prefecture moved to block the game from going ahead on that date. The Ligue de Football Professionnel then confirmed the switch and said the fixture will be shown live on Ligue 1+.
“The LFP takes note of the order from the Paris Police Prefecture prohibiting the organization of the Paris Saint-Germain - Olympique Lyonnais match, which is part of the 8th matchday of Ligue 1 McDonald’s, on Sunday, October 25 at 8:45 PM, and decides, in agreement with Ligue 1+, to postpone the match to Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM. The match will be broadcast live on Ligue 1+.”
The change comes against the backdrop of protests in Paris that began as school demonstrations in Créteil before spreading nationwide as residents joined in to complain about living costs. Al Jazeera reported on the unrest, while President Emmanuel Macron blamed ultra-left groups for what he called seditious acts.
The postponement also means PSG’s match now runs into the same evening as the Ballon d’Or ceremony. That event is scheduled for Monday at 9 p.m.
CET at the London Palladium, and Get Football News France notes the overlap. Among PSG’s nominees are Ousmane Dembélé and Marquinhos.
There has been no similar change for American football in the city. The NFL is keeping the Saints-Steelers game on the schedule, with the teams still set to play at the Stade de France on Sunday.
“Preparations continue as scheduled for NFL events and the game at Stade de France next Sunday,” the league notes.
The Steelers had already canceled a fan event in Paris because of the turmoil.

Steelers Could Have A Trade Deadline Opening They Rarely Get
The trade deadline does not often hand the Steelers a clear buying opportunity, but this year could look different. With Pittsburgh sitting at 4-2, the front office may have a chance to add help if teams around the league decide to sell, and a handful of struggling clubs have already started to look like realistic sources of available talent.
The Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Tennessee Titans have all been mentioned as teams that could be open for business before the Nov. 10 deadline, which puts Pittsburgh in a spot it rarely enjoys. The list of potential fits is broad enough to cover several needs, with names like Ladd McConkey, Chris Godwin and Amani Hooker among the possible targets, leaving the Steelers with options if they decide this is the moment to be aggressive. Steelers Fans Just Got Painful Validation On George Pickens
George Pickens has always been the kind of talent that makes coaches keep one eye on the upside and the other on the fine print, and the latest reminder came from Dallas. Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer publicly called out the wide receiver for his effort during a Week 6 game, pointing to issues not just in his receiving routes but in the less glamorous parts of the job that Pittsburgh fans know well.
For Steelers followers, the criticism lands with a familiar sting because the questions around Pickens were never only about whether he could make contested catches. His time in Pittsburgh included games where the effort concerns became impossible to ignore, and Schottenheimers comments only bring that conversation back into the open. The unresolved part now is whether Pickens can change that reputation before it hardens any further. [Read more 🡒]
Steelers Backfield Suddenly Puts More On Jaylen Warren In Paris
The Steelers got a healthier-looking practice report this week, with T.J. Watt back to full work after dealing with a calf issue. His return is a welcome sign for a defense that has leaned on him heavily, especially with the team preparing for the next stage of its schedule in Paris. On the other side of the ball, though, the backfield picture is a little less settled.
Rico Dowdle is listed as questionable because of a knee injury, which adds another layer to a situation that already had some uncertainty around his availability. If he cannot go or is limited, Jaylen Warren could be asked to carry a much bigger load in the offense, and that would put even more pressure on a Pittsburgh ground game that may need him to handle a featured role.
