The Pittsburgh Steelers had one of the game’s biggest first-half swings wiped away when T.J. Watt nearly turned in a strip sack against the New Orleans Saints, only for the ruling to get reversed after an expedited review.
Watt worked past Saints lineman Taliese Fuaga with a spin move and got to Shough, then punched at the ball as the two came together. The football visibly shifted while the contact was still happening, and Shough’s knee also came down quickly as both players ended up on the grass. On the field, officials initially gave Pittsburgh the sack and fumble, with the Steelers recovering.
That didn’t hold up after review, though, and the ball was awarded back to the Saints. ESPN NFL rules analyst and former referee Russell Yurk said he was caught off guard by the reversal.
“I’m a little surprised they reversed that,” Yurk said.
ESPN analyst Jason Kelce had the same reaction, pointing to the lack of clear video evidence to change the call after it was made a fumble on the field.
“Especially with it being ruled a fumble on the field. Usually, it’s gotta take very convincing evidence that that ball is not out. Surprising,” Kelce said.
Pittsburgh also had another take-away opportunity go the wrong way when linebackers Patrick Queen and Cole Holcomb combined to force a fumble from running back Kendre Miller, only for the play to be overturned because Miller hit the ground first before extending the ball.
The Steelers finally got some turnover luck to swing their way in the second half, when Payton Wilson jumped a pass from Shough.

Aaron Rodgers Just Gave Steelers Fans A New History Debate
Aaron Rodgers added another layer to the rsum Sunday, and it came in a setting that already felt a little different for Pittsburgh. Against the Saints in Paris, the Steelers quarterback kept climbing the NFLs all-time lists, this time nudging past Peyton Manning in career touchdown passes and moving into third place as one of the most prolific passers the league has ever seen.
For Steelers fans, it is the kind of milestone that turns into a debate almost as quickly as it turns into a stat update. Rodgers is still chasing bigger ground in passing yards, and the Week 7 numbers now give Pittsburgh a clearer picture of where he sits in the broader history conversation, even if the next chapter in that climb is still waiting to be written. Steelers Paris Game Will Feature A Look Fans Rarely See
The Steelers are set to bring a different look to Paris for their game against the Saints, blending a familiar road jersey with pieces fans do not often see together. Pittsburgh will pair its white road tops with black pants from the Color Rush set and black helmets, a combination meant to keep the team recognizable while giving the international stage something a little fresh.
Around the locker room, the change has already drawn notice from players such as Nick Herbig and Darnell Washington, who said the uniform stands out from the standard road outfit. For a franchise so closely tied to tradition, even a subtle tweak like this carries some weight, especially when it is being unveiled in a showcase game meant to introduce the Steelers to a wider audience. Steelers Get A Crucial Paris Game Boost Before Facing Saints
The Steelers got some needed clarity on their roster heading into their Week 7 matchup in Paris against the Saints. Pittsburghs inactive list brought good news in one spot, with the team carrying its usual blend of injury management and last-minute availability questions into an international game that already comes with plenty of unfamiliar moving parts.
Rico Dowdle is set to suit up despite a knee issue, giving the Steelers another option in the backfield as they prepare for New Orleans. DeShon Elliott also is available after being activated from Injured Reserve, a notable development for a defense that can use every healthy body it can get as the schedule shifts overseas.
