Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams have a storied history on the field, creating magic together during their time with the Packers. Rumor has it they might have reunited under Mike McCarthy with the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report.
The Rams were reportedly considering trading Adams while also eyeing A.J. Brown.
The Rams were likely trying to finalize a deal before a significant $6 million roster bonus deadline. With that bonus now paid, it seems Adams and his hefty $18 million salary will stay put.
As for the Steelers, there's no sign they were looking to bring Adams on board. Adams has caught 689 passes from Rodgers, racking up 8,444 yards and 76 touchdowns, according to Statmuse.
Last season, Adams led the league with 14 touchdown receptions after inking a two-year, $44 million deal with the Rams. Meanwhile, the Steelers made a splash by acquiring DK Metcalf from the Seahawks.
Financially, Adams’ cap hit would have been a tough pill to swallow, especially after the Steelers picked up Michael Pittman Jr. from the Colts. With Pittman's cap hit estimated at $24 million, adding Adams would have been a stretch.
Drafted by McCarthy in 2014, Adams blossomed into Rodgers' go-to guy over eight seasons. After a stint with the Raiders, Adams found his way to the Jets in 2024 to reunite with Rodgers, catching 67 passes for 854 yards and seven touchdowns in 11 games before heading to the West Coast.
