Steelers Welcome New Talent in C.J. Ah You

Ah You, stepping in as the new outside linebackers coach, brings a dynamic presence that’s already resonating with players. Known for his ability to develop defenders, Ah You’s coaching style is both challenging and engaging.
Skyler Gill-Howard, a Texas Tech defensive tackle, shared insights into Ah You’s approach. “He was one of my favorite coaches,” Gill-Howard remarked.
“He’s the kind of coach who pushes you while keeping it light-hearted. I’m thrilled he’s with the Steelers.
His mantra was, ‘Stop playing catch-up.’ He’d be up at 6 a.m., either in the sauna or working out, setting the pace for us all.”
Ah You’s journey to the Steelers is rich with experience. Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2007, he later played 33 games for the St.
Louis Rams as a defensive end. His coaching career kicked off under the legendary Bob Stoops at Oklahoma in 2015, setting the stage for a series of impactful roles.
His tenure included stints at Vanderbilt, USC, and with the XFL’s New York Guardians before making his mark at Texas Tech in 2022. There, Ah You played a pivotal role in the development of standout players like Tyree Wilson, who went No. 7 overall to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023, and David Bailey, a top prospect in this year’s draft.
The Steelers’ decision to bring Ah You on board signals a commitment to fostering talent and enhancing their defensive prowess. His track record suggests that Pittsburgh’s defense could see significant growth, much to the delight of the Steelers faithful.
