Patrick Graham Just Gave Steelers Fans A Different Look At Game Day

Revitalized by memories of his playing days, Steelers DC Patrick Graham embraces the thrill of calling plays from the sideline once more.

Steelers defensive coordinator Patrick Graham found himself getting fired up for Week 5 in a way that had nothing to do with the opponent and everything to do with the sideline.

As he prepared for Pittsburgh’s matchup with the Indianapolis Colts, Graham said the thought of calling plays from the field had him feeling that old rush again. While watching college football on Saturday night and working through his prep, he could already picture what Sunday would look like.

“It was funny. I was watching college football Saturday night while I was doing my prep for the games and stuff and then, you know, you start to feel it like, oh, I'm going to be on the field,” Graham said.

“That's the fun part about it. That's probably why we all keep chasing these jobs as we get older.”

Graham said the anticipation had him feeling the kind of excitement that can still hit a veteran coach before kickoff. He joked that retirement may still be a few years off, but the chance to be back on the field gave him something to look forward to.

The moment also pulled him back to his playing days, even if he said he played sparingly.

“I started getting excited, almost like when I played,” Graham said.

The move to the sideline changes the view, not the job. Graham is still handling the same defensive coordinator duties for Pittsburgh, just with a different vantage point and a little more adrenaline when game day arrives.

Derrick Henry Has Opponents Talking About Him In A Very Strange Way

Derrick Henry has a way of making even veteran coaches talk about him in uncommon terms, and Mike Tomlin added to that on Sunday Night Football. During the broadcast, Tomlin steered clear of Henrys name and kept referring to him as The Big Runner, a telling sign of the respect and concern the Steelers coach associates with facing one of the leagues most punishing backs.

Tomlin later made the point more directly on social media, underscoring how much Henrys presence has come to mean in these matchups. Pittsburghs teams have still managed a winning record against him, but Henrys individual production against the Steelers has been strong enough to keep him in the center of the conversation every time these teams line up. Steelers Face A Week 6 Twist That Could Change Everything

The Steelers kept their momentum going with a win over the Colts even while the wide receiver room was dealing with injuries, and the timing of that matters as the schedule tightens. Jaylen Warren has been doing plenty of the heavy lifting in the backfield and looks positioned to keep carrying a major share of the offense, which gives Pittsburgh a steady foundation at a time when the AFC North is as crowded as ever, with every team in the division sitting on a winning record.

Now the attention shifts to Tampa Bay, where the Steelers are favored heading into a game that already comes with some quarterback uncertainty on the other side. Pittsburgh does not need much encouragement to understand what is at stake in a week like this, especially with the division race so compressed and every result carrying extra weight, but the betting market may not stay put for long once the Buccaneers starting picture becomes clearer. Steelers Finally Showed Progress That Could Change The AFC North Race

A week after looking stuck in neutral, the Steelers finally put together a performance that suggested their offense can travel in the right direction instead of just hanging around the same problems. The division picture around them also shifted in a way that made the result matter even more, with Baltimore surviving in overtime without Lamar Jackson, Cincinnati still searching for steadier footing against lesser competition and Cleveland taking a damaging loss to the Jets.

For Pittsburgh, the encouraging part was not just the outcome but the way the team handled a physical, productive opponent and showed something closer to balance than it had earlier in the season. The AFC North remains crowded at the top and volatile behind the Ravens, but the Steelers at least gave themselves a reason to stay in the conversation if this recent offensive growth turns into something more durable.
