Lions Add Proven Safety To Boost Secondary

Veteran safety Chuck Clark brings his defensive prowess to the Detroit Lions, amplifying their backfield strategy.

The Detroit Lions are making moves, and their latest signing is a testament to their strategic approach. They've brought in former Steelers safety Chuck Clark, a seasoned pro with a wealth of experience in the NFL.

Clark, now 30, began his career with the Ravens after being drafted in the sixth round out of Virginia Tech back in 2017. He quickly proved his worth, earning a three-year, $16 million extension while still on his rookie contract. This extension came as he was set to make $735,000 in 2020, highlighting how much Baltimore valued his contributions.

Fast forward to 2023, and Clark was playing under a $3.285 million base salary in the final year of his deal. The New York Jets saw potential in him, acquiring him for a 2024 seventh-round pick and securing his services with a new contract for that year. After a stint with the Jets, Clark joined the Steelers on a one-year deal for 2025.

During his time with Pittsburgh, Clark showcased his defensive prowess across 15 games, racking up 51 total tackles, two tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and three pass defenses. His ability to make impactful plays on the field is exactly what the Lions are looking for as they bolster their secondary.

This signing signals Detroit's commitment to strengthening their defense with experienced talent. Clark's track record suggests he will be a valuable asset in their pursuit of success this season.
