Jordan Rodgers is taking Aaron Rodgers’ side on national TV, and he’s not buying the early panic around the Steelers quarterback.
Three days after Pittsburgh’s 20-3 loss to the New England Patriots in Week 2 of the 2026 NFL season, Jordan Rodgers appeared on ESPN’s First Take and pushed back on the criticism aimed at his brother and the offense. The college football analyst said Aaron’s deep throws were there, and that missed chances had more to do with drops and calls that didn’t go Pittsburgh’s way.
“Rodgers was actually very accurate down the field,” Jordan said. “The throws that were not completed because he threw a non-call or that were dropped down the field were on the money. Not trying to be a homer.”
Jordan also drew a line between Aaron’s reunion with Mike McCarthy and a relationship that took time to circle back around. McCarthy is now coaching the Steelers after Aaron spent 2025 playing under Mike Tomlin, and Jordan compared the situation to getting back together with an ex after a long separation. He added that Pittsburgh had looked close to explosive in Week 1 and said the offense just needs patience.
Aaron, for his part, didn’t sugarcoat the loss to New England. After the game, he said the offense was below its standard and gave credit to the Patriots’ defense.
The TV appearance also fits into a bigger shift in the Rodgers family story. Aaron shared Instagram photos earlier this summer with his parents, Ed and Darla, as well as his brother Luke, a public sign that the long rift in the family had eased. That distance had first become a public topic during Jordan’s 2016 appearance on The Bachelorette.
Aaron later said on teammate Cam Heyward’s podcast that he and Jordan had difficult but productive conversations. Jordan was not included in the initial set of photos, which drew attention at the time, but both brothers have since spoken about the progress.
Now Jordan is using a national platform to defend Aaron and urge patience as the Steelers try to find their rhythm. The results in Pittsburgh have been uneven so far, but his message was clear: the scoreboard has not told the whole story.
