George Pickens is back in the trade conversation, and this time the noise is coming out of Dallas.
The former Steelers receiver has put up superstar production since Pittsburgh shipped him to the Cowboys, but the story around him hasn’t been clean. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Dallas could be open to moving him before the November 10 trade deadline if the right offer comes along.
On The Pivot Podcast with Ryan Clark, Schultz said, "The biggest name around the league that people are really starting to get curious about is George Pickens in Dallas. He's playing on the franchise tag.
He's not been utilized the same way as last year." He added, "Given the demand for a talent like George Pickens, that is one I am certainly watching."
That possibility has legs because the Cowboys are in a messy spot. Pickens has been a growing distraction for the team across last season and this one, and he is scheduled to reach free agency.
Most teams are wary of handing him a big long-term deal, which is part of why Pittsburgh moved on from him in the first place. Now Dallas may be forced to make a tough call after a wonky season.
The Cowboys sit at 3-5, and while the NFC East is still there for the taking, the roster may need some reshuffling. Moving Pickens could be one way to help the defense and ease some of the pressure around the team.
For Steelers fans, the situation probably looks familiar. Pittsburgh already made the choice to send Pickens away, and the reasons haven’t exactly disappeared.
He has never fit the mold of a team-first player, and his frustration when the ball doesn’t come his way has been hard to miss. Add in the off-the-field shenanigans, and he remains a difficult personality to manage.
That’s also why a reunion in Pittsburgh does not appear to be on the table if he becomes available. The Steelers could use his talent, but they do not need the kind of distraction he can bring. A sideline clash with Aaron Rodgers would be the last thing they want if things went sideways.
For now, Dallas appears willing to listen if the price is right. With Pickens heading toward free agency and the Cowboys not looking eager to hand him a massive extension, both sides may be headed in different directions soon.

Steelers Player Christian Kuntz Just Earned Recognition Pittsburgh Fans Will Love
Christian Kuntz has built a reputation in Pittsburgh that reaches well beyond his work as the Steelers long snapper. Since taking over the role in 2021, he has used his platform to stay active in the community, and his foundation, Kuntz 4 Ki6s, has helped raise meaningful funds for local families while supporting underserved youth through events and partnerships.
This week, that off-field commitment earned him another round of recognition from around the league. Kuntz was named the NFLPAs Week 9 Community MVP after a donation that helped open a new resource room at Pittsburgh Morrow, a project aimed at giving students and families a more reliable place to turn for support. For Steelers fans, it is the kind of honor that fits the way Kuntz has carried himself in the city since arriving on the roster. [Read more 🡒]
Steelers Could Move A Veteran Piece Fans Did Not Expect
Cole Holcomb has been more of a familiar face on special teams than a fixture on defense this season, and that alone has made him an interesting name to watch as the trade deadline approaches. Albert Breer of SI.com raised the possibility that the Steelers could consider moving the veteran linebacker, a reminder that roster decisions in-season are often shaped as much by depth and role as by headline production.
Detroit has surfaced as a logical place to keep an eye on, given the Lions need at inside linebacker after a major injury to Jack Campbell. For Pittsburgh, Holcombs value goes beyond the box score, but the question now is whether a contender in need will view him as enough of a fit to make the Steelers seriously weigh a deal. Antonio Brown Is Coming Back To Pittsburgh At A Charged Moment
Antonio Brown is set for a notable return to Pittsburgh later this month, with the former Steelers receiver scheduled to appear around the teams home game against the Broncos. It is the kind of reunion that immediately grabs attention in this city, where Browns peak years still loom large even as his departure and everything that followed changed the way many fans remember him.
Brown has not been a frequent presence around Pittsburgh since the trade in 2019, and his return comes at a moment when his football legacy remains in view. He last played in 2021 and is eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame Class of 2027, but his place in Canton is still undecided, leaving his Steelers chapter very much part of the conversation whenever he comes back into the picture.
