The Philadelphia Eagles are once again heading into the offseason with a critical vacancy to fill - and it’s becoming a bit of a trend. For the fourth straight year, the Eagles are in the market for a new offensive coordinator. This time, it’s Kevin Patullo who’s out after just one season, following the team’s early playoff exit at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers.
Under head coach Nick Sirianni, who took over in 2021, the offensive coordinator position has been a revolving door. Shane Steichen held the role for the first two seasons before taking the head coaching job in Indianapolis.
Brian Johnson stepped in for 2023 but was let go after a single campaign. Kellen Moore followed in 2024, only to leave this offseason to become the head coach of the New Orleans Saints.
That brings us to the Eagles’ fifth OC hire in as many years - a level of turnover that’s rare for a team with championship aspirations.
The Eagles are now eyeing Zac Robinson, who most recently served as the offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons. Robinson’s future is up in the air after Atlanta parted ways with head coach Raheem Morris, but his stock around the league is rising fast. A former quarterback and a protégé of Sean McVay, Robinson has already interviewed for OC jobs with both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Detroit Lions, according to multiple reports.
Before joining the Falcons, Robinson spent five seasons with the Los Angeles Rams, where he worked in a variety of offensive roles and absorbed McVay’s system firsthand. In 2025, his first season running Atlanta’s offense, the Falcons finished 14th in the league in total yards per game - a respectable showing, especially given the inconsistent quarterback play Atlanta dealt with throughout the year.
Back in Philadelphia, the offense took a noticeable step back in 2025, and it wasn’t hard to see why the front office decided a change was necessary. The ground game, once a dominant force, lost its edge.
Saquon Barkley, who had a monster 2024 season with over 2,000 rushing yards and nearly six yards per carry, saw his production dip significantly. In 2025, he totaled 1,140 yards on the ground and averaged just 4.1 yards per attempt.
As a team, the Eagles dropped from second in rushing yards per game in 2024 to 17th in 2025 - a steep decline for an offense that was built on balance and physicality.
That regression played a major role in the Eagles’ postseason stumble. After hoisting the Lombardi Trophy just a year ago, expectations were sky-high heading into 2025. But a first-round playoff exit brought the season to a screeching halt - and with it, a clear message: something had to give.
Now, the Eagles are looking for a fresh voice to reinvigorate an offense that still has plenty of talent but needs a new direction. Zac Robinson could be that voice.
With a background steeped in modern offensive concepts and a growing reputation around the league, he checks a lot of boxes. Whether he ends up in midnight green remains to be seen, but one thing’s clear: the Eagles know they need to get this hire right if they want to stay in the Super Bowl conversation in 2026.
