DK Metcalf’s latest official headshot is doing exactly what a great football photo should do: getting people talking.
The Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver, heading into his second season with the team, had his 2026 NFL headshot released and the reaction online was immediate. The image shows Metcalf staring straight ahead with wide eyes and a hard-edged, locked-in look that has plenty of fans calling it intense and even creepy.
“Scary: Steelers star wide receiver DK Metcalf’s new headshot for the 2026 season has been released. Metcalf is LOCKED IN this season 😈,” a post said.
Metcalf is coming off a first season in Pittsburgh that had its share of turbulence. He arrived in a trade from the Seattle Seahawks last year, with the Steelers sending Seattle a 2025 second-round draft pick, No. 52 overall, in return for the receiver.
His 2025 season also included a two-game suspension from the NFL for conduct detrimental to the league after he physically confronted a fan. According to the source, he grabbed the fan’s shirt, pulled him over the railing, and forcefully shoved him. The league upheld the ban on appeal, which kept him out of the final two games of the regular season and cost him game check salary.
Metcalf returned in the 2025-26 NFL playoffs for Pittsburgh’s Wild Card Round matchup with the Houston Texans, but the comeback didn’t go the way he or the Steelers wanted. In the 30-6 loss, he finished with 2 receptions for 42 yards.
Even with that uneven stretch behind him, the Steelers still have plans to get more out of him in 2026. In his first year with Pittsburgh, Metcalf led the team with 59 receptions for 850 yards and 6 touchdowns across 15 games. The coaching staff now wants to move him around the formation more, including more time in the slot, to create easier catches and more yards after the catch.
That adjustment matters because Pittsburgh is counting on him to be a major force as Aaron Rodgers enters what the source describes as his final season in the league. Under new head coach Mike McCarthy, the goal is clear: get Metcalf easier touches, open up the offense, and create more scoring.

Steelers Have A Joey Porter Jr. Decision Fans Can't Ignore
Joey Porter Jr. is still waiting on a long-term deal from Pittsburgh, and the wait has only added another layer to a situation the Steelers would probably prefer to have settled by now. The young cornerback is also on the Physically Unable to Perform List because of a back issue, which makes his standing one of the more closely watched items around the team as it moves through the offseason.
Interest from other NFL teams has already surfaced with Porter as a potential trade target, but a deal does not appear to be in the Steelers plans right now. If the two sides still do not have an agreement next offseason, Pittsburgh may have to consider using the franchise tag, keeping the conversation around Porter very much alive for another year. DK Metcalf Has Steelers Fans Doing A Double Take Again
DK Metcalfs first year in Pittsburgh gave the Steelers plenty to think about after they sent a 2025 second-round pick to Seattle to bring him in. He still finished as the team leader in receptions, yards and touchdowns, even with a two-game NFL suspension for conduct detrimental to the league after an incident involving a fan cutting into the back end of his season. When he came back for the Wild Card Round, he was part of the offense again, but the Steelers are clearly looking for more from him than just the outside threat he has long been known for.
Thats where the next wrinkle comes in. Pittsburghs coaching staff wants to move Metcalf around more and use him in the slot more often in the upcoming season, a shift that could change how defenses match up with him and how the passing game is built around him. For a player who already gave the offense its most productive season in those categories, the question now is whether the Steelers can turn that into something even bigger by giving him a different kind of role. Steelers Fans Have A Real Kaleb Johnson Question After Preseason Debut
Kaleb Johnsons first preseason look with the Steelers was a short one, as the rookie was on the field for just five snaps in Pittsburghs opener. Even so, there was enough around that cameo to keep the conversation going, especially with head coach Mike McCarthy saying Johnson should see more work in the upcoming preseason games, even if the exact workload remains a little fuzzy for now.
Danny Crossman added another layer to the picture by praising Johnsons attitude and what he has shown in practice, which matters as the Steelers sort out how they want to use him. The one wrinkle is that Johnson did not get any special teams work in the game, leaving a real question about how quickly Pittsburgh plans to expand his role beyond those brief offensive snaps.
