Connor Heyward Stuns Fans with His Move from Steelers to Las Vegas

Connor Heyward reflects on his heartfelt departure from the Steelers and a fresh start with the Raiders, marking an emotional chapter in his NFL journey.

In a heartfelt revelation, former Pittsburgh Steelers tight end and special teams standout Connor Heyward opened up about his move to the Las Vegas Raiders. Speaking with Raiders’ columnist Paul Gutierrez, Heyward expressed the emotional difficulty of leaving Pittsburgh.

“Honestly, it was so hard. Talking to everybody, I’m still getting messages just saying thank you for the person you were.

I’m super grateful for my time in Pittsburgh and obviously playing with Cam,” Heyward shared. “You don’t usually get to play with your siblings, let alone at a professional level.

So I didn’t take it for granted. I loved going in everyday to work with Cam’s locker being right next to mine.

That was amazing.”

Connor, who spent the first four years of his NFL journey with the Steelers, played alongside his older brother Cam. The move to the Raiders comes with a two-year deal worth up to $5.5 million, including $2 million guaranteed.

During his time in Pittsburgh, Heyward made his mark in 68 games, pulling in 44 receptions for 379 yards and three touchdowns. Known for his versatility, he also took on a unique role last season, running the ball for 43 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in Pittsburgh’s signature tush push play.

Meanwhile, Cam Heyward, gearing up for his 16th season, recently signed a new two-year contract with the Steelers. He took to Instagram to express his pride and support for Connor’s new adventure.

“So proud of this dude @connorheyward1 You have worked your ass off. So excited for this next chapter in YOUR story,” Cam wrote.

“You were never appreciated enough for the player you are. Can’t wait to watch you capitalize on a great situation.

I’ve enjoyed this very cool chapter where I got to say I played with my brother! I love you, I’m proud of you.

And now you go and make YOUR LEGACY!”

Connor Heyward’s move marks a new beginning, but his bond with Pittsburgh and his brother remains a cherished part of his journey. As he steps into this next phase with the Raiders, fans and family alike are eager to see how he continues to shape his legacy on the field.
