Bengals Scouts Make Intriguing Move at Clemson Pro Day

In a dynamic week of evaluations and signings, the Bengals make strategic moves while the Ravens face challenges, and the Steelers leave no stone unturned in their extensive draft preparations.

Bengals

The Cincinnati Bengals are keeping a keen eye on the future, with Defensive Coordinator Al Golden and Defensive Line Coach Jerry Montgomery attending Clemson’s pro day. They were likely scouting some promising draft-eligible linemen such as DT Peter Woods, DE T.J.

Parker, and DT DeMonte Capehart. It’s clear the Bengals are looking to bolster their defensive front with fresh talent.

Meanwhile, the Bengals have decided not to pursue free agent OLB Arnold Ebiketie, signaling a focus on other priorities for their roster.

In a significant move, Cincinnati has re-signed OT Orlando Brown Jr. to a two-year, $32 million contract. Brown expressed his enthusiasm for staying with the team, saying, "There’s no other place I’d rather be." His return is a big win for the Bengals, ensuring continued stability and strength on the offensive line.

Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens faced a tough loss in free agency as center Tyler Linderbaum signed a lucrative three-year, $81 million deal with the Raiders. Ravens GM Eric DeCosta likened the experience to missing out on a dream house due to budget constraints, reflecting on the challenges of the competitive market.

DeCosta noted that even if the Maxx Crosby trade had gone through, it might not have impacted their ability to retain Linderbaum. The focus remains on evaluating player worth and sticking to their valuation principles. Despite the setback, DeCosta expressed confidence in Offensive Line Coach Dwayne Ledford’s ability to develop new talent, citing the team’s strong track record in drafting centers.

Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been busy at the NFL Combine, conducting formal interviews with a host of promising prospects. Among the notable names are Oregon G Emmanuel Pregnon and Texas A&M G Chase Bisontis, both of whom could potentially shore up the Steelers' offensive line.

On the receiving end, Clemson WR Antonio Williams, Washington WR Denzel Boston, and Arizona State WR Jordyn Tyson are among the wide receivers who have caught the Steelers' attention. The team is clearly exploring options to enhance their receiving corps.

Additionally, LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier had a formal interview with the Steelers, indicating that Pittsburgh might be considering adding depth at the quarterback position.

Other wide receivers who met with the Steelers include USC WR Makai Lemon, Ohio State WR Carnell Tate, and Georgia State WR Ted Hurst. The Steelers are casting a wide net as they look to build a dynamic and versatile offensive unit.
