Aaron Rodgers Turns Back the Clock, Lifts Steelers to Key AFC North Win Over Ravens
Aaron Rodgers may be 42, but on Sunday, he looked every bit the quarterback who’s made a career out of late-game heroics and rewriting the record books. In a crucial Week 14 matchup with the Baltimore Ravens, Rodgers delivered a vintage performance, leading the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 27-22 win that not only snapped a skid but also vaulted them into first place in the AFC North.
And in the process, he passed another NFL legend in the history books.
Rodgers became just the third quarterback in league history with 32 career games featuring both a passing and rushing touchdown, surpassing Hall of Famer Steve Young. Only Josh Allen (50) and Cam Newton (45) have more. That’s elite company, and it’s another feather in the cap of a player whose résumé is already Canton-worthy.
But this wasn’t just about chasing records - it was about stepping up when the Steelers needed it most.
Coming into the game, Pittsburgh's offense had been sputtering. The rhythm wasn’t there, the execution was inconsistent, and questions about whether Rodgers still had enough left in the tank were starting to surface. Sunday’s game didn’t erase all of that, but it was a timely reminder of just how dangerous Rodgers can still be when the lights are brightest.
He completed 23 of 34 passes for 284 yards and a touchdown, adding a rushing score in the first quarter that caught even his teammates off guard. Wide receiver DK Metcalf admitted he didn’t expect his quarterback to take off and hit paydirt with his legs.
“I thought it was a busted play at first,” Metcalf said. “My boy’s still a great quarterback.”
That kind of playmaking - the ability to create when things break down - is what’s made Rodgers special throughout his career. And it’s exactly what the Steelers needed to keep pace in a tight AFC North race.
Now sitting at 7-6, Pittsburgh holds a narrow edge over Baltimore (6-7) and Cincinnati (4-9). With only four games left, every snap matters, and Rodgers will need to keep channeling that old magic if the Steelers are going to stay on top.
The road ahead isn’t easy. Pittsburgh hosts the 6-7 Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football in Week 15, then hits the road for tough matchups against the Detroit Lions (8-5) and Cleveland Browns (3-10), before closing out the regular season at home against the Ravens.
If Rodgers continues to play like he did on Sunday - calm under pressure, sharp with his reads, and just mobile enough to keep defenses honest - the Steelers have a real shot at making noise down the stretch.
For now, though, Pittsburgh fans can breathe a little easier. Their quarterback still has something left in the tank - and he’s still chasing history while chasing wins.
