Aaron Rodgers didn’t mince words when the subject turned to two former Packers teammates who have criticized him publicly over the years.
On Not Just Football with Cam Heyward, the Steelers quarterback singled out Greg Jennings and Jermichael Finley, making it clear he hasn’t forgotten the comments either one has made about him.
“I had two teammates who spoke out about me years ago, out of everyone I ever played with who said they didn’t have a good experience with me. One was bitter because he went to another team and never became a player again.
The other just wasn’t a smart person. And that one hurt more, because I spent so much time with him.
The night before games, I’d be in his room for an hour going over the plan, the checks, everything I was going to do. I went above and beyond for that guy,” Rodgers said.
He followed that up with a blunt message for former teammates who keep bringing his name up in public.
“If you’re only relevant by mentioning my name, you should check yourself,” Rodgers said.
Jennings and Rodgers have been on shaky ground since Jennings left Green Bay in 2013. In the years since, Jennings has repeatedly taken shots at his former quarterback in the media, and now works as an analyst with FS1, where he continues to offer strong criticism of Rodgers.
Finley also drew Rodgers’ ire after he questioned the future Hall of Famer’s work ethic and how badly he wanted to be great while still with the Packers.
The result is a relationship with Jennings that appears fully fractured, while Rodgers also sounded genuinely stung by the way Finley has talked about their time together.
