The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins have made some strategic roster moves, recalling defenseman Scooter Brickey and forward Nolan Renwick from their ECHL affiliate, the Wheeling Nailers. This decision brings fresh energy to the team as they prepare for their upcoming clash against the Bridgeport Islanders.
Scooter Brickey, at 26 years old, has already made his mark with the Penguins this season, appearing in 13 games and contributing an assist. Since starting his AHL career with the Penguins at the end of the 2023-24 season, Brickey has played in 50 games, earning a total of five assists.
His stint with the Nailers this season has been impressive, tallying four goals and four assists in just 10 games. Notably, Brickey netted his first professional goal on November 28, 2025, against the Toledo Walleye, showcasing his offensive flair.
Brickey's journey to the AHL was paved through a solid collegiate career split between Western Michigan University and Ohio State University. His standout performance with the Buckeyes, where he led the team with 13 goals in the 2023-24 season, highlights his potential as a key player on the blue line.
Joining Brickey in the call-up is Nolan Renwick, who has already played 34 games with the Penguins this season, posting five points. Renwick’s AHL career, all with the Penguins, includes four goals and three assists over 38 games. His performance with the Nailers has also been noteworthy, with two goals and two assists in just five games.
Renwick's path to the AHL was forged at the University of Maine, where he concluded a four-year collegiate career. During his senior season, he recorded career highs with 15 assists and 24 points, earning a team-best plus-25 rating. Renwick's defensive prowess was recognized as he was the runner-up for Hockey East Best Defensive Forward in the 2024-25 season.
