Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Turn the Ice Pink for a Cause on Crosscheck Cancer Night
Hockey’s always been about more than just goals and saves-it’s about community, grit, and showing up for one another. That spirit will be on full display when the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins host their annual Crosscheck Cancer Night, presented by Geisinger, on Saturday, Jan. 31.
This year, the Penguins are doing more than raising awareness-they’re rallying fans to bring comfort and care to those battling cancer. Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring thoughtful, comforting items that can make a real difference for patients going through treatment. We’re talking about things like new soft blankets, cooling wraps, Chapstick, and cozy anti-slip socks or slippers-items that offer a little warmth and relief during some of the toughest days.
There’s also a focus on small touches that can lift spirits: fidget toys, crayons and twistable pencils, wordsearch and activity books, journals, and even get-well cards. These aren’t just donations-they’re messages of support, reminders that no one fights alone. The Penguins are even asking for unscented Eucerin cream and hard candies, thoughtful details that show just how much care has gone into this initiative.
All donations will be collected at Section 119 during the game and will be distributed to hospitals across the region by the Julia Hockey Mazur Foundation, a group that’s been instrumental in supporting cancer patients in the community.
For fans who want to get involved or have questions about what to bring, Amanda Cromer is the point of contact and can be reached at (570) 208-5418 or via email at [email protected].
And while the team is focused on giving back off the ice, there’s plenty happening on it as well. Season-ticket packages for the 2025-26 campaign are available now, including 12-game plans, Flexbooks, Premium Seating, and Corporate Partnership options.
