Phoenix Suns Shine with Youthful Energy in Dominant Win Over Raptors
The Phoenix Suns showcased their promising future with a commanding 120-98 victory over the Toronto Raptors. This game wasn't just about the established stars like Devin Booker, Dillon Brooks, and Jalen Green. It was a coming-out party for the young guns: Khaman Maluach, Rasheer Fleming, and Ryan Dunn.
These rising talents are making waves, and Sunday's performance was a testament to their growing impact. Dunn, in particular, impressed with 12 points and three steals, hitting five of his eight shots.
Maluach contributed seven points and seven rebounds in just 17 minutes, boasting a +19 in the box score. It’s clear these young players are ready to step up, especially considering the injuries and challenges the team has faced.
Dunn is thrilled about the potential of this youthful lineup. "I love it.
Playing with those two, they bring so much energy," he shared postgame. "Man Man [Maluach] is coming in confident, talking, shooting-he's got size and athleticism.
It’s kind of scary, me and him on the floor together, defensively. I hope we can grow and get better through our careers here."
Maluach's minutes have steadily increased since the trade deadline, which saw Phoenix part ways with Nick Richards and Nigel Hayes-Davis, freeing up space in the front court. An injury to Mark Williams also paved the way for Maluach to make his mark. The Suns might not have planned to rely on him this soon, but they're embracing his potential, despite the inevitable growing pains.
Sunday's game offered a glimpse of what a front court featuring Dunn, Fleming, and Maluach could achieve, a prospect that excites Maluach. "It's really fun because I see the work they put in," he said.
"I've seen how much they've improved since the summer league. It's been a process for all of us, and we're really trusting the process, getting better each day."
