Suns Guard Jalen Green Set for Return After Mysterious Absence

After a turbulent start to his Suns tenure, Jalen Green eyes a long-awaited return as Phoenix visits Cleveland.

Jalen Green is officially back in action for the Suns, and for Phoenix fans, that’s welcome news. After missing the last three games with tightness in his right hamstring, the fifth-year guard is expected to suit up tonight against the Cavaliers in Cleveland. The team’s latest injury report doesn’t list him, signaling he’s good to go.

Green’s 2025-26 campaign has been anything but smooth. He’s played in just four games this season, thanks to a nagging right hamstring strain that’s been a problem since training camp.

After initially missing the first eight games of the year, he reinjured the hamstring on November 8 and was sidelined for 33 straight contests. He finally made his return on January 20, but the comeback was short-lived-tightness flared up again in just his second game back, putting him right back on the shelf.

Over the weekend, Green underwent an MRI to ensure there was no new damage, and the results came back clean. That gave the Suns the green light to bring him back into the fold.

Green, the former No. 2 overall pick, arrived in Phoenix this past offseason as part of the blockbuster Kevin Durant trade. While he was a high-usage scorer during his four seasons in Houston-averaging 20.0 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in over 32 minutes per game-his role in Phoenix has been much more limited. So far this season, he’s averaging 11.8 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.0 assists in just 13.5 minutes per game, but he’s been efficient with his touches, shooting 43.2% from the field and a scorching 42.1% from three.

The Suns are hoping Green’s return can add some scoring punch and athleticism to their second unit, especially as they continue to navigate a competitive Western Conference. The key now?

Keeping him healthy. If the hamstring holds up, Green has the tools to be a dynamic contributor-and perhaps even a game-changer-down the stretch.
