Jalen Green has long been celebrated as one of the NBA's top-tier athletes, and it’s easy to overlook just how electrifying he is with the ball in his hands. Despite grappling with a persistent hamstring issue this season, Green seems to be shaking it off, moving with a smoothness that’s hard to ignore.
He’s slicing through defenders, showcasing that extra burst of speed, and even when defenses anticipate his moves, they struggle to contain him.
Since Devin Booker’s return, Green's game has reached new heights. Over the last 14 games, his stats tell the story: averaging 22.8 points, hitting 3.8 free throws per game, and shooting 39.6% on catch-and-shoot threes. He’s driving to the basket 13.5 times per game, with 3.0 blow-bys, hitting 54% on pull-up twos, 55.7% inside 10 feet, and 63% on attempts at the rim.
These numbers not only highlight his scoring prowess but also underscore his growing comfort on the court.
“I feel good. Very blessed and happy to be able to get back out there without any problems,” Green shared about his hamstring after a victory against the Utah Jazz. He admitted that while his bounce isn’t always consistent, he’s grateful for the days when it’s there.
Of course, being a dynamic scorer has its challenges. Green has had some off nights, which can partly be chalked up to his injury.
During one rough patch, he only hit 21 of 65 shots over four games. Yet, even then, he delivered a clutch shot to seal a win against the Orlando Magic.
After Jalen Green scored 31 points in 22 minutes, I asked him how he feels physically since fully recovering from his hamstring injury.

Playing without Booker during those games, adjusting to a new system, and being the main scoring option wasn’t a walk in the park. Green doesn’t shy away from acknowledging his struggles, but he remains committed to taking quality shots and improving his game.
Those challenging games saw him settling for jumpers instead of attacking the paint. But with Booker back, his approach shifted, and the results speak for themselves.
While many focus on his offensive stats, Green is dedicated to enhancing his defensive skills. The Phoenix Suns' defensive philosophy, led by head coach Jordan Ott, emphasizes full-court pressure, a shift from the Houston Rockets' half-court focus. It’s a new challenge for Green, but one he’s embracing.
“Just his intent, offensively, but he can put a lot of pressure on the rim,” Ott noted after a recent game, highlighting how Green’s defensive efforts transition seamlessly into offensive opportunities.
With eight games left in the season, Green is finding his rhythm at a crucial time. As the team looks forward to the play-in tournament, Green’s form could be pivotal, especially with teammates like Mark Williams and Dillon Brooks aiming for a return before the season wraps up.
