Newly surfaced video has put Isaiah Stewart back in the conversation over the February 2024 tunnel altercation with Drew Eubanks, showing the moment the Detroit Pistons big man threw a right hand at close range inside Footprint Center.
The clip captures Stewart in the tunnel with his bags before the exchange turns physical. Eubanks, then with the Suns, takes the shot and backs up toward Stewart rather than immediately retreating.
Security then moves in to separate the two players. The sequence is over in a matter of seconds.
At the time, reports described the confrontation as chest-to-chest before it escalated. A 2024 account also said details about the incident “were kept under wraps for some time before the police completed their investigation.”
Eubanks came away with a bloody mouth after the punch. He later called the blow unprovoked and said he was fine to play. The Suns responded with a statement saying the attack was unacceptable.
The fallout was swift for Stewart. NBA officials reviewed the incident and handed him a three-game suspension, while Phoenix police arrested him on an assault charge. Authorities later dropped the misdemeanor citation.
The two players already had tension brewing before that night. Stewart and Eubanks exchanged words in the tunnel during an earlier matchup in November 2023. On February 14 in Phoenix, Stewart was already out with a sprained ankle and did not play, but the confrontation still ended up drawing plenty of attention.
