Dillon Brooks Just Took The LeBron Feud Into Free Agency

As tensions rise in the NBA, Dillon Brooks stirs the pot by taunting LeBron James and speculating on the superstar's next move.

Dillon Brooks isn’t letting up on LeBron James, even with James still weighing his next move in free agency.

The Phoenix Suns forward, long known as “The Villain,” added another jab in a video posted by @nba2league on TikTok. Brooks said he’s “for sure” the “top” LeBron hater, then made it clear he wants his favorite target back for another season - just not in a Los Angeles Lakers uniform, where James spent the past eight seasons and won his fourth NBA championship in 2020.

Brooks also took a shot at the wait itself, saying James needs to “stop all this waiting” as the Akron, Ohio, native sorts through another major free agency decision. Then he went ahead and picked a destination.

“I think Golden State,” Brooks said, predicting where James will likely close out his storied NBA career.

That would keep James in the Pacific Division, something Brooks would probably enjoy given how much he relishes the matchup and the back-and-forth that comes with it. For a player who leans into the villain role, having LeBron nearby would only keep the rivalry humming.

Still, Golden State isn’t the only team in the mix, at least according to the rumors floating around. James is also said to be considering a return to the Cleveland Cavaliers, his hometown team, which would have the pieces to chase what would be his fifth NBA title. Donovan Mitchell recently signed an extension with the Cavs, and fellow guard James Harden is waiting out his own free agency to give Cleveland financial flexibility to target LeBron for a possible reunion.

The Miami Heat remain in the conversation too. James won two of his four MVPs and two of his four championship rings there, and Pat Riley and Co. just added former MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in a blockbuster trade earlier this offseason. That could make a familiar setting - and a chance to play alongside the “Greek Freak” - appealing.

For now, though, Brooks’ read is that James ends up with the Warriors and links up with longtime friend and fellow Akronite Steph Curry. However it plays out, Brooks seems ready to keep the feud rolling.
