The Phoenix Suns checked off one of the last big items on their offseason list by locking in Dillon Brooks.
According to Mike George of Klutch Sports, Brooks has agreed to a three-year, $73 million contract extension that runs through 2029-30. Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro reported that the deal is fully guaranteed and does not include any options. The first year will pay Brooks just over $22 million.
Brooks was heading into the final season of his deal, so this extension gives Phoenix a long-term answer for a player who quickly became central to what the team wants to be. Under Jordan Ott, Brooks has fit right into the Suns’ two-way, hard-nosed identity, and that showed up in the way he played last season.
His scoring surge - a career-high in points per night - was part of it, but the bigger impact came from the edge he brought every night. Brooks was a major reason the Suns reached the postseason, and his presence helped define the team’s hustle and grit on the floor.
