Bol Bol, the towering former Phoenix Suns center, is making waves once again. This time, he's set to take his talents to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), having inked a deal with the TNT Tropang 5G's for the 2025-26 Commissioner's Cup. With the competition kicking off on March 11, Bol has a solid window to mesh with his new squad.
Joining him in the PBA is Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, another ex-NBA player who spent time with the Brooklyn Nets, Toronto Raptors, and Portland Trail Blazers. This pairing promises to bring some serious NBA flair to the league.
Bol's journey has been intriguing from the start. Coming out of Oregon, his unique blend of height, shooting, and dribbling skills at 7'3" had scouts buzzing. And let's not forget, he's the son of Manute Bol, a 10-year NBA veteran known for his shot-blocking prowess.
Despite the initial excitement, Bol found limited opportunities in the NBA. During his stint with the Denver Nuggets, he clocked just 53 appearances, averaging a mere 6.2 minutes per game. However, a stint with the Orlando Magic in the 2022-23 season offered a glimpse of his potential, as he achieved career highs with 9.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks over 70 games.
Afterward, his journey took him to the Phoenix Suns, where he played for two seasons, averaging 5.9 points and 3.1 rebounds across 79 games. Despite these efforts, he eventually found himself outside the NBA looking in.
At 26, Bol's move to the PBA presents a fresh opportunity to showcase his skills and perhaps catch the eye of NBA scouts once more. Meanwhile, the Suns are gearing up to face the San Antonio Spurs as they return to action post-All-Star break.
