AJ Brown’s first night in New England started with promise, turned into frustration, and then got a lot worse.
During the Patriots’ 13-10 loss to Seattle on Wednesday night, cameras caught Brown leaning over New England’s bench and talking directly to his offensive linemen. The message was blunt.
“If y’all boys just could hold up, we gon’ score this s**t,” he was heard saying. “They cannot fk with none of us at wide receiver, I’m telling you. We running wide open, you hear me?”
The clip quickly made the rounds online, and fans had plenty to say. One wrote, “Facts bro facts,” while another joked, “He’s already asking other players to play better.”
Others wondered why the receiver was addressing the offensive line at all, with one fan asking, “Why the WR talking to the O-line?” Another added, “Bro said ‘I’m doing my job,'” and one more pointed out, “Bro forgot Smitty not lined up on the other side.”
A few responses dug up older criticism from Brown’s time in Philadelphia. One user wrote, “A WR going to the OL and telling them ‘y’all are the reason we’re not scoring.’

Brown’s night then took a much more serious turn. Early in the third quarter, he suffered a high ankle sprain after Seahawks cornerback Nehemiah Pritchett landed awkwardly on his leg during a low throw from Drake Maye.
The Patriots later placed Brown on injured reserve, which means he’ll miss at least four games. Initial X-rays for a fracture were negative, a small bit of good news after the injury looked rough on the field.
With Brown out, New England will turn to Romeo Doubs and Mack Hollins to help fill the gap. Whether that sideline message ends up mattering once he’s back is still to be seen.
