The Brewers are adding a familiar arm as they try to shore up their pitching depth before the trade deadline.
According to Robert Murray of Fansided.com, Milwaukee is set to sign free-agent right-hander Bryse Wilson after recent stops with the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs. Murray reported, "Free-agent pitcher Bryse Wilson and the Milwaukee Brewers are in agreement on a contract, according to sources familiar with the deal,"
Wilson gives the Brewers another option as they continue looking for help on the mound. He has thrown 9.2 innings this season and owns a 6.52 ERA with eight strikeouts over three games.
In two appearances with the Cubs, he posted an 8.22 ERA across 7.2 innings. His lone outing with the Phillies was cleaner, as he logged 2.0 scoreless innings and a 0.00 ERA.
The right-hander has logged 166 big league games in his career, going 20-23 with a 4.86 ERA, 341 strikeouts and a 1.41 WHIP over 470.2 innings. He also spent time with Milwaukee in 2023 and 2024, when he put up a 2.58 ERA in 76.2 innings and a 4.04 ERA in 104 innings.
Wilson’s path has also included the Atlanta Braves and Pittsburgh Pirates, and he posted a 6.65 ERA with the Chicago White Sox in 2025. In the minors this year, all with Philadelphia’s Triple-A affiliate, he recorded a 6.29 ERA in 12 games, 11 of them starts, over 54.1 innings.
The Cubs designated Wilson for assignment on July 4, and now Milwaukee is bringing him back as it looks to add pitching depth a few days before the All-Star break and a few weeks before the deadline.

Phillies Just Made Another Telling Outfield Decision
The Phillies have spent much of this season trying to keep their outfield depth intact, and the churn has now reached Triple-A Lehigh Valley. With Adolis Garcia and Johan Rojas both on the injured list, the organization has already had to shuffle pieces around and bring in help, including Derek Hill, while also giving Gabriel Rincones Jr. a look in right field.
Carlsons stint in the system never really got going at the plate, which made his path even tougher in a crowded, injury-driven situation. He managed only a .181 average with four homers and a .614 OPS in 153 plate appearances for Lehigh Valley, and the Phillies are clearly continuing to sort through which outfield options can actually hold up while the big league club waits for healthier answers. Phillies Fans Just Lost A Reunion They Were Waiting For
The All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park was already shaping up as a big night for Philadelphia, with six Phillies chosen for the midsummer showcase, including Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber. It also had the feel of a reunion, since Ranger Suarez was selected too, setting up a return to the ballpark where he spent his first eight big league seasons and became a familiar name to Phillies fans.
Instead, that homecoming will have to wait. Suarez will miss the game, leaving one of the more appealing local storylines off the field and taking some of the edge out of a night that was supposed to bring him back to South Philly in front of the crowd that watched him grow into a fan favorite. Phillies Star Pulled Into Disturbing Sportsbook Lawsuit Allegations
A Pennsylvania bettors lawsuit against FanDuel has thrown an uncomfortable spotlight on how aggressively sportsbooks can court customers once they start betting big. Terry Thompson alleges the company kept encouraging him to gamble despite signs of a problem, and the complaint says the VIP treatment extended well beyond ordinary promos, with perks designed to keep him engaged as his losses mounted.
The filing also pulls Bryce Harper into the conversation through a personalized video message that was part of the alleged VIP package, a detail that has drawn criticism from gambling experts even though no laws or MLB rules are said to have been broken. Harper has previously spoken out against gambling because of his Mormon faith, which only adds another layer to a case that already names FanDuel, DraftKings and the NFL in broader claims about addiction and responsibility.
