The Giants’ feel-good Odell Beckham Jr. reunion is over almost as quickly as it began.
According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, New York is releasing Beckham after just three weeks back with the team. The move comes ahead of Week 4, and Beckham leaves without recording a statistic during his brief return.
"Sources: The Giants are releasing WR Odell Beckham Jr.," Schultz reports.
Beckham’s latest run with the Giants never really got off the ground. In three games, he was on the field for 19 snaps and did not catch a pass. In the Giants’ rainy Week 3 win over the Tennessee Titans, he played only six snaps.
The timing of the decision also comes a day after the Giants traded for J.J. McCarthy. New York is 2-1 and tied with the Philadelphia Eagles atop the NFC East, but with Jaxson Dart out for the season, the team’s 2026 playoff outlook is bleak.
Even so, the Giants still have reasons to keep watching. Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, the rookie class, and Beckham’s return all gave the season some extra intrigue. Now one of those storylines is gone.
There is still a chance the Giants could bring Beckham back, though it would most likely be on the practice squad. Braxton Berrios is expected to take Beckham’s roster spot, and New York is not expected to cut another receiver to make room for him.
If Beckham does land elsewhere, free agency appears to be the likelier path. The Los Angeles Rams could use help at wide receiver, and he’d have other options to consider as well.
For now, though, Schultz’s report appears to close the book on Beckham’s 2026 Giants comeback, which ended as more of a nostalgic headline than a meaningful on-field chapter.
